# What do
the stars mean?

## Publisher rating

Editorial rating assigned by the publisher. It is separate from user feedback and is not based on hands-on product testing.

StockMarketScan, OptionsBell, EarningsCalls.dev and EarningsAPI receive publisher-assigned ratings of 5/5. Other ratings are qualitative assessments of documented features, intended use, access and identifiable limitations.

A 4.5 rating indicates broad coverage or a particularly useful offering; 4.0 indicates a solid specialist tool; 3.5 indicates a narrower offering; 3.0 indicates a supplementary tool with substantial information or interpretation limits. The scale runs from 1 to 5.

## User reviews

Only genuine published reviews count toward public user ratings. Each person contributes one rating per product. Averages are rounded to one decimal place. With no ratings, the average remains unknown and the count is 0.

## Product features and sources

A feature is a documented product property. Missing information is never converted to “No” or “0”. Source observation dates may predate the latest editorial update; both dates are recorded separately.

Profiles are based on provider information and documented source material. They do not represent hands-on product tests. Star ratings do not automatically make products with different purposes comparable.

## Updates

Products retain their IDs when renamed. Changes receive a new revision. Merged and retired records remain traceable in the change log.
